I love the ambiance at Haleiwa Joe’s. It’s so romantic and the garden is so beautiful. All the fish dishes I’ve gotten have been tasty. The desserts are great too.

The biggest draw is Haiku Gardens–beautiful both day and night. Second biggest draw is the Paradise Pie. And the reason we keep on coming back is for their most delicious prime rib. Service is excellent.

La Mariana is a Sailing Club...sorta! The atmosphere is a perfect spot of tranquility to start the inevitable unwinding process.

We thought this place was a goner after the tsunami! But lucky for us it survived…

Though this place is out of the way, and off the beaten track, it is a must if you haven’t experienced it. It’s why you love Hawaii! One of our favorite locations.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012
Cocktails and Dinner 6:30pm

La Mariana Sailing Club (The Hide-a-Way)

50 Sand Island Access Rd
Honolulu, HI 96819

Parking: Street, but free and usually no problem

La Mariana is a Sailing Club…sorta! The atmosphere is a perfect spot of tranquility to start the inevitable unwinding process. Nice generous pours of rum and smiling friendly service = relaxation at its finest. My favorite description of this place is: “Think of what the ideal tiki bar would look like”. No air conditioning here, open to the harbor view. We’ll get a great seat, enjoy good food, a cold brew and count the pufferfish light fixtures, tiki’s or number of shells. The evening piano music adds to the ambiance.

The Seafood Brochette a favorite. It consisted of shrimp, scallops, mahi, and an assortment of vegetables. The mushrooms are unforgettable. The brochette rests in a thin layer of white cheesy sauce, and while the pieces of seafood were fabulous a la carte, the sauce added an addictive element to the taste. Another favorite is the Seafood Stuffed Eggplant! A must try!

A country Italian menu and a fusion cuisine integrating West Coast fresh flavors and the produce indigenous to Hawaii

Cafe Sistina stands out in Honolulu as an Italian restaurant with a unique culinary and ambient experience. It would also stand out in Italy because of its unique personality. With frescoes from floor to ceiling and subtle, yet distinctive flavors, Cafe Sistina introduces the visitor to many levels of experience.

Italian food has great regional variations depending on the birthplace of the chef. Chef and Owner Sergio Mitrotti is from Torino in Northern Italy, and came to Honolulu after spending time in New York and Los Angeles.

His cooking style, as Italian as they come, Cafe Sistina offers a country Italian menu and a fusion cuisine integrating West Coast fresh flavors and the produce indigenous to Hawaii. The restaurant stocks an extensive wine collection from Italy and the US and features a good selection of imported and domestic beer.

Join us Friday, April 6, 2012
Cafe Sistina
6pm Social, 6:30 Dinner

1314 S King St
Honolulu, HI

Parking: Free. Enter from behind the restaurant on Queen Street.

Someone Said:
I’ve been coming here for years as it is one of my father’s favorite Italian restaurants.
Besides the artistic awesomeness of this place, the food is really top notch.

So far after dozens of visits I can’t say that we’ve had a bad experience, I enjoy being able to bring my own wine with a nominal corkage fee ($12.50). The parking is easy and free at night, which you can’t complain about in town especially on King Street. The winner here though… is the Veal. Veal Picatta, Veal Porcini, Veal, veal… VEAL. Hands down one of the best places to go if you have a craving for a fork tender, melts in your mouth, veal experience. Generous portion size
PLUS you get a tasty pasta with your veal dish. I can’t say enough.
