Q. What is Single Gourmet?
A. Single Gourmet was started in New York City in 1978. Chapters exist nationwide as well as in Canada. Each Single Gourmet chapter is individually owned and operated. Single Gourmet Hawaii is a members-only social organization for single professionals that offers food-related events, friendship, and conversation.
Q. How did Single Gourmet Hawaii get started?
A. Hawaiʻi is known to be one of the top single cities in the United States. SGH president, Dorothy Mack, believes that the single professional living in Hawaiʻi can benefit from a new way to meet others in addition to the few dating and matchmaking services currently available.
Q. Is Single Gourmet Hawaii a matchmaking or dating service?
A. No. The events provide a wonderful and pressure-free way to meet other single people. We do not attempt to match our members with one another. We provide an enjoyable, safe and comfortable opportunity for the single man and woman to socialize, get to know and network with each other.
Q. May I attend events at other Single Gourmet chapters?
A: Yes. You would pay as a guest and may attend on a space available basis. We suggest contacting the Single Gourmet chapter in the city you will be visiting beforehand to be sure of events and availability. You can find a list of Chapters in the About Us section of this website.
